SFTP Task Error - Invalid private key format

Problem

Many times if you try to use a private key (i.e. *.ppk file) generated by tools like PuttyGen with SSIS Secure FTP Task or SFTP Driver you may receive the following error

Invalid private key format

Possible Cause

Most likely this error is due to an incompatible key file format. ZappySys SFTP Connection support only a few key file formats (e.g. OpenSSH )  

Solution

Try to convert your PPK file to OpenSSH format using the below steps.

• Open your .PPK file in PuttyGen.
• Select Conversions -> Export OpenSSH key

So basically loading or importing the key into it and then saving it in PuTTY or OpenSSH format would allow using key file on the ZappySys SFTP COnnection UI without error.
